SPAM

So - I left my jacket at Surya on Sunday, and haven't had a chance to go pick it up yet. I drove by yesterday while they were closed and saw it on the rack, waiting for me. Doh!

Anyhow, here's the interesting part that relates to the title: I received a spam today from "Trina Mendez" with the subject "you left your jacket". And it took me by surprise for a moment...

Now I am amusing myself with the notion that the Internet is going to become sentient and omniscient, and that it will use spam to communicate with us. I think maybe this is going to be my short story entry for Worcester Magazine...

I didn't actually look at it - it was a MIME attachment, which I can't read in elm. I didn't want to bounce a weird MIME email to my outlook just to see what it said...

But now it's getting weirder - now I just got a spam from "Adele Odonnell" with the subject "you forgot to respond"... the Internet wants me to talk back! :)
