Spooky World review!
Oct. 12th, 2003 12:13 amIt was a really good time. Essentially, Spooky World is just a really big carnival; actually a lot better than many local church carnivals and fairs that I've been to... good food & treats, reasonably priced (for a carnival), and though the price of admission is ~$20.00, you get all rides for free and you don't have to pay to get into the six haunted houses. I got to eat yummy fried dough, a fried twinkie, a giant Pixie Stick, and a caramel apple! Total cost for me for the night was around $35.00 (no VIP upgrade).
Saturday night was pretty packed. We got there early, right at 6:30, and that was pretty cool because we managed to get into three of the haunted houses before the lines got ridiculous. The VIP upgrade really becomes a bargain after 8:30 on Saturday, because you don't end up wasting 45+ minutes in line having to listen to people bitching about the line! In three hours we had walked all the way around the fair grounds and done four haunted houses - the best house was Elvira's, followed by the 3D disco, the ghosts of London, and the Cirque Macabre (which was practically devoid of scary jump-out people, and I'm not sure why... Cirque De SO LAME!!).
I caught a glimpse of Julie Newmar as she walked right by us when we went into the big halloween store. She's TALL, even with big heels and big hair. And she's definitely showing her age, although she's undoubtedly had a bit of surgery. She kind of looked/moved like a robot actually, but that could have just been the shoes and makeup. She also has a very high forehead. We also saw the new Leatherface from the upcoming Chainsaw Massacre remake; he entered the room and loudly announced "Hey look, Leatherface is here!!" Great self-promotion. :)
Lastly, Trina's friend Jolie is cute and has a Southern accent - all you single guys out there really missed out! :)
I'll probably go back next year... definitely a good time!
