The Bourne Jittery

I went to see The Bourne Supremacy with Harrison last night (he is the man for coming to visit me in Hyannis, I must say). I have to say that I enjoyed the film overall, the action sequences were great, and Matt Damon is a great square-jawed stone-faced secret agent.

But the theme in movies this year is "disorientation". Man on Fire, Riddick, King Arthur, and now Bourne have all been subject to jitter-vision camera work. The camera is an active participant in every fight scene and every car chase, and man, it is really freaking annoying. Ever since they did it in Gladiator, it's been the new way to film action movies.

I hope this trend ends soon. It's about as lame as when everyone was using "the Matrix effect" in every commercial and movie just because it was the hip new special effect...
