Disappointed in The Academy

After having such a high-minded trend of Oscar winner picks in the last couple of years, I am extremely disappointed to see a remake getting two top honors for 2006. Yes, Scorsese was certainly due for one, and it's great to see him claim one - but what the fuck, why'd he have to get it for a remake of an HK action film??? It's just pathetic, and it's symptomatic of the current hollywood remake mindset. BE ORIGINAL. Movie studios take note: television is kicking your sorry asses all over the place, and that's why all the real acting talent is starting to migrate there.

I realise it was a remake, but The Departed was a fan-fucking-tastic film.

And have you seen the original...?

And what I mean by that is, I too would be able to make a fan-fucking-tastic film if I just cut out the asian characters and pasted in anglo ones.

The whole point of being a director is to bring your vision to something... I'm pretty sure he just cribbed the vision from Infernal Affairs.
