If SNL had forewent the opening sequence entirely, and just played scrolling text that said:

"The players and writers of Saturday Night Live have decided that we will not be portraying Sarah Palin as a character. Even though Tina Fey looks exactly like her, and we have a decades long tradition of lampooning political figures, we have come to the unanimous conclusion that it would just be TOO EASY to make fun of Sarah Palin. In fact, it would be so simple to mock her that we're afraid it wouldn't actually be funny, and we want to do our best to make you laugh. Additionally, NBC wants to get the most value it can out of its paid writing staff, and we're certain they'd be done writing any Sarah Palin sketch in about five minutes, and then they'd just be sitting around the studio all week eating donuts and playing Solitaire on their laptops. So instead of having a comedic sketch featuring Tina Fey as Sarah Palin, we're going to show you this footage of a chicken playing tic tac toe; we think it may actually be more qualified to be president than Sarah Palin is."

Tina Fey played Sarah Palin, and the joke was pretty boring and predictable.

You've seen SNL before, right? It's the McDonalds of sketch comedy - their success stems from being predictable. Some like it, some don't. I'm glad Tina was there to show who really makes the glasses look good. :)

I know, I know... I wish it were as edgy as The Daily Show can be. It used to be edgy.

You didn't find it interesting that they pointed out the Repub's offense to "sexism" was calling Palin "attractive", while the actual sexist remarks about Clinton - "shrew", "bonershrinker", merited no response from them at all?

That's what I took away from it, anyway.

That didn't come through as well as it should have. Maybe if the Palin character was acting more like a Britney Spears or had her pageant crown on or something... :)
