CSA!!

Good news! Heirloom Harvest will start vegetable distribution early this year. The vegetable distribution start dates for each pickup day are as follows:

Thursday, May 27th
Sunday, May 30th
Tuesday, June 1st

Because the duration of the chicken and egg share contract is for 22 weeks, distribution will not begin for those shares until the following week.

Due to an unusually warm spring, some plantings have accelerated so much that if we don't harvest early, they will go by. The first share will include the following:

Arugula
Lettuce
Radishes
Red Russian Kale
Spinach
Spicy greens mix

Depending on the rate of growth, it could also include:
Shelling peas
Chinese Cabbage
Broccoli
Hakurei Turnips

we went to orientation on sunday. YUM! i can't wait for the first batch! i am really excited about it. i saw on the 'example pickup board' at the farm that one of the weeks last year had 10 lbs of tomatoes!!! holy canning, batman!

on the way out, we stopped at the South Street Diner (i think that was the name) that is right in the center of town, on the way to the farm. REALLY EXCELLENT breakfast spot! great homefries. and veggie (asparagus and tomato) eggs benedict. yummee! you should definitely stop by there one of the days that you pick up your veggies.
