Signs is a really good movie, like all of MNS's other movies that I've seen. He's the Alfred Hitchcock of our time. He's amazingly good at setting the tone of a film with pacing and establishing shots and music... I don't think I've ever come out of a movie feeling simultaneously amused and spooked to shit. Driving home, I had that stupid feeling that someone was in the back seat of my car, laying in wait. And I was really tired, so a couple of times I swore I saw something move out of the corner of my eye while I was walking around outside.
The only other time I have not been able to walk upstairs in the dark to go to bed was when I saw The Exorcist in the theater. Signs wasn't even that scary a movie - it's just the aftershock of the film that's getting to me. Like the mood of the people in the story was just contagious or something.
M. Night Shyamalan. What a bastard. I love him and hate him.
