Field Day Logistics [Edit: Trip Cancelled]
Jun. 4th, 2003 01:42 pmFor those considering the trip to LI to see the Field Day Fest...
[Never mind. The venue changed, and they lost a lot of bands. Nobody's interested in going any longer.]
It's going to be an ass-long drive if we go by roads the whole way. Like on the order of 6 hours (at least) all told, and we'd have to drive through NYC, which can be a big pain in the ass or a little pain in the ass depending on the day.
So - I know there's a plan to meet in Branford to hook up and continue onwards; but, there's another possibility: the Long Island Ferry. Now, the only thing is that yes, it is going to cost more than just driving. However - it'll only take about 4 hours to get where we're going. We'd only have to drive down 395 and Rt. 32 to New London, and then an hour on the ferry and maybe about 45 minutes to the concert.
Pros:
Cons:
It's $36.00 each way for car + driver. Additional $10.00 each way for each passenger. If I filled my car up with 4 passengers and we go one way we pay $15.20 to save two hours...

Pros:
- we get an hour to just rest and chill on the ferry
- less travel time, more time to enjoy at the concert
Cons:
- additional cost
- ferry leaves at 7am, so have to be in New London by then
