THE MASSBAY FILM PROJECT AND FESTIVAL NEWSLETTER - January 5, 2004
+================================================+

Happy New Year, film fans! While our first full-fledged, multi-day, multi-venue film festival is not for another 15 months (April 2005), there are still plenty of films and events to enjoy to keep you satisfied until then. Here's a taste...

--------------------------------------------------------------
The MassBay Film Festival Presents...CREMASTER 3
SUNDAY, JANUARY 18, 2003
Cinema 320 at Clark University, Worcester
--------------------------------------------------------------

Controversial artist Matthew Barney's acclaimed essay on art has caused a stir wherever it has played, and now, you can check it out for yourself. With the visually spectacular film's 30-minute climax shot inside New York's famed Guggenheim museum, this is one oddball experience that is sure to keep you talking, for better or for worse. Shown at 3:00pm.

The MassBay Film Festival Presents...THE ANIMATION SHOW
FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 20TH & SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 21ST
The Bijou Community Cinema, Worcester
--------------------------------------------------------------
Mike Judge, creator of BEAVIS AND BUTT-HEAD and Fox's long-running KING OF THE HILL, teamed up with renegade animator Don Hertzfeldt to deliver this hilarious alternative to the legendary SPIKE AND MIKE festival, at which both animators have been featured during their careers. This mini-festival contains 6 Oscar-nominated shorts, and is a blast for serious and casual fans of this very misunderstood genre. Shown at 9:30pm, both nights.

The MassBay Film Festival Presents...MADE-UP
THURSDAY, MARCH 11
The Bijou Community Cinema, Worcester
--------------------------------------------------------------
A NEW ENGLAND PREMIERE! Emmy-winning MONK star Tony Shalhoub, who also starred in the arthouse favorite, BIG NIGHT, is coming to Worcester to personally present his latest film, a comedy about an actress (Brooke Adams) who laments not getting satisfying enough roles now that she is getting older. Join us for a reception beginning at 6:00pm, followed by the film at 7:30pm, with the Q-and-A featuring Tony Shalhoub, Brooke Adams and writer Lynne Adams immediately following.

We will be rescheduling our December film, EVER SINCE THE WORLD ENDED, very soon. My sincere apologies to everyone who came out for it, but we were all very sick from spending 8 hours out in the blistering cold selling Krispy Kremes the day before as part of our December fundraiser. Learn more about Joshua Litle's very nifty film at www.jfilmic.com.

Thank you for your continued support of the MassBay Film Project, and we look forward to seeing you soon!

Warm regards,

Rob Newton
