On McDonald's
Jun. 4th, 2004 02:40 pmIt's been a really, really long time since I've been inside a McD's. I went to the one off 495 in Bellingham; a small place, with just a little bit of seating. It had a fill your own soda fountain (with free refills, I think) and they were playing classical music over the loudspeakers. I noticed that they don't have "super size" any more, everything was "large". It wasn't very ostentatiously decorated either - didn't seem terribly targeted at kids... they didn't have a lot of signs up about the Neopets stuff, for example, so I didn't even think of it until I had been sitting there for a while. The signs instead were for "active meals" instead of happy meals, some kind of exercise oriented food combo??
Maybe McD's is finally feeling the pressure of health conscious consumers? I wonder how much of this current marketing and change in practices is a result of the work of the late CEO, or if it's being done by new people?
