Dinner And A Movie
Feb. 13th, 2005 12:31 amMy co-workers invited me over their house tonight; they requested my help in preparing a pork loin, so it was a chance to have a nice dinner at their place. They have a great house in Harwich; they completely redid it in IKEA, and it's gorgeous.
Let me tell you, the pork loin came out INCREDIBLE. I seasoned it, seared it on all sides on a skillet, then I rubbed a paste of garlic, fresh rosemary, chives, thyme, olive oil, and salt all over it. Baked it in the oven until it reached an internal temperature of 140 degrees... it came out abundantly juicy and utterly scrumptious. I also made my cranberry sauce to serve with it, and it complemented the meat *perfectly*. I mean, shit, it was such a perfect match I totally amazed myself. The sweet and tart in the cranberry sauce matched the herby juicy garlicky pork exactly. And it was so easy! Maybe 20 minutes of prep time, total. They steamed some broccoli and asparagus and made some rice for sides, and made a nice salad, and brought home some fresh bread from the store. For dessert we had fresh baked cookies and vanilla ice cream!
I also got to watch my first Dane-imation - a 3D animated kids cartoon that is so raunchy it makes South Park look like the 700 Club. Yes, it really is for kids, it's made by a stand up comic and based on a national radio show for kids. It just has drunk sailors beating the shit out of people and kids swearing and lots of racy humor. After previewing that, we watched Trading Places with Eddie Murphy and Dan Akroyd... A MOVIE THAT CAME OUT 22 YEARS AGO!!! AAAAAAAAAAAHHHH!!! Holy shit.
