The Next Big Thing Apple Should Create
Jun. 14th, 2005 05:55 pmThe LifePod - A roundish, ovular object with one flat side that fits in the palm of your hand; maybe something the size of an optical mouse. It will have the following features:
- Wireless/bluetooth/Ultra-wide band transmission/reception capability (and throw in FM/AM radio, why not)
- Built-in GPS
- Camera with still shot and video capability
- Wide range audio reception with high quality recording capability and voice activation
- Biometric sensors for security (eye and fingers)
The idea is to record your life with it. It will constantly record its GPS coordinates, it will record everything you say, and it could (though you probably won't want it to for drive space limitations) record everything you see. Maybe you could even wear it fashionably on top of a hat while you're walking around. It should probably have several hundred gigabytes of storage space on it, maybe even half a terabyte, and then it should wirelessly stream its cache of data into your home PC/Mac for archiving (which by the time the LifePod comes out, will probably have several terabytes of storage on it, at least).
I would love this. I would cherish the ability to save all the cool late night conversations I've had. It would be harvesting experiences, not just taking pictures or videos of things. It would be like getting a brain download. See the Robin Williams movie "The Final Cut" for what I'm talking about.
It would be very, very cool.
