A Better Update
Sep. 16th, 2005 10:50 amWhile my new goal in life is to become a Deschanel sandwich, I figure I owe you all an update with more content than the previous.
It's been a busy two days. I spent all of Wednesday and Thursday moving to my new residence (friended details to follow on that) and man oh man I am a hurting puppy. I'm sore all over, and I've got bruises everywhere. I made at least a dozen trips in my car, and three trips moving heavy bulky stuff in my co-worker's truck, but I was basically so exhausted/sore last night I could barely sleep for five hours. But let me tell you this: I'm in fucking heaven. This place is so much better than my last place, it's just ridiculous. I took piping hot baths on Wednesday and Thursday nights, and the tub is ginormous so I almost got to submerge completely - absolute BLISS let me tell you.
My cat continues to be ingenious. While he was at first a little flustered by his new surroundings, he managed to settle in pretty well. I had to keep closing him in the bathroom while I was moving so I could keep the doors open. So I finish up one move, and go to the bathroom to let him out... but I can't open the door. It's blocked. My cat has barricaded himself in!! Actually it turned out that he had gone under the vanity, and pushed the drawers out so that they prevented the door from opening.
I admit, I did panic a bit. I just moved into this great new house, and now we're going to have to cut the door down because the hinges are on the inside, the window's closed, and the cat is going to starve to death because I CAN'T OPEN THE DAMN DOOR. I ran out to the car and got my "break-into-stuff" tool (a thick wire coat hanger) and worked it through the door and under the door to try and push the drawer back in.
Of course the cat thinks I'm playing with him and fights with the coat hanger. "I'm trying to save your life here, cat!!"
Eventually I get the stupid drawer closed and open the door. But now I'm going to have to go out and get child proof locks for every single cabinet and drawer in this house; he's already trying to get into all the cabinets in the kitchen too. It's a good thing the house is already a disaster area with things in piles all over the place.
I'll post pictures next week after I get everything set up and after my new camera arrives!!
