Wines For You To Try
Jun. 6th, 2006 09:27 pmI took Becca to a wine class tonight, and three of them stood out for me:
2005 Susana Balbo Crios Torrontes
This is a medium white, that is very dry tasting, but has a flowery, lavender like smell. I had it with apple (granny smith) and brie stacks, which was a perfect match.
2004 Cortijo III Tinto Rioja
The best part about this wine is the smell of butter. Yes! It smells exactly like butter, and would be great with a steak. A dark grapey flavor, in a young wine (Tinto means young). We ate this with salami and piave cheese.
2003 Runquist Barbera
A full, subtly bitter and smokey oaky red - California Barbera grapes. This was excellent with a pork tenderloin, served with bleu cheese and fig jam.
I bought the last two. Yum!!
