Time and Routine
Oct. 12th, 2006 12:17 amI decided to make a "budget" of my time in an effort to get into more of a routine and try to make more of my days. If I'm really honest about how much time I give myself to do various things, it's sobering to see how few disposable hours I actually have.
I'm resolved to get myself eight hours of sleep every day. I haven't gotten there yet, mainly because I have a really hard time going to bed at a reasonable hour (see time of this post). I'm also resolved to exercise for a half hour each day, and also to write for an hour every day. I want to dedicate an hour of time every day to accomplishing chores so I can do laundry, go shopping, and keep the kitchen clean and generally not live in filth mode. I also enjoy my TV and movies, so I've allotted two hours a day for that, and I am also doubling up on my video consumption time by watching TV and eating breakfast and dinner at the same time...
All of this leaves me with one free hour every weekday. If I lived 15 minutes closer to work, I'd get another half hour free - that seems significant seeing as how I've only got the one free hour. I hate losing time to commute, because there's so little one can accomplish while driving.
I figure I can use that free hour differently every day. I want to draw more, and learn guitar, and get my lip back playing trumpet again. I've also decided not to plan the weekends at all, so that should give me a lot of leeway too.
