Those of you who know me well, know me as an atheist. I don't hide this, and I have never felt any need to worship omnipotent beings. And I don't even try to deny that omnipotent beings exist, because no one can prove a negative, and I am educated enough to know that all things are possible in an infinite universe.
However, I do not feel the need to tell everyone that I believe that a little green man lives in my refrigerator and disappears every time I open the door to get a look at him. And really, how much sense does that make? Why is there a green man in my refrigerator? And I certainly don't make goat sacrifices to honor the green man, or crucify myself, or buy chocolate bunnies in the Springtime for him.
All humor aside... my point today is that I want to say that I am more than just an atheist. I am actively against all forms of religion, and I believe they all ultimately lead to destructive and anti-social behavior.
( Read more... )I'm not particularly interested in arguing these points in my journal today, so I've disabled comments on this post. Anyway, I actually prefer having discussions in real life when it comes to topics as important as I feel this one is, so save your thoughts for when we next meet up in person.
