Over 14,000 Emails
Nov. 29th, 2007 09:20 amI want to unify all my data and make the laptop my central repository, so I decided to start using the Mail client on my MacBook (I previously downloaded all my address book data off GMail and my PDA and reconciled it). I turned POP on in my Gmail account. I wasn't sure I'd get everything if I did that, but apparently I have gotten every single thing I've ever archived on there.... over 10,000 messages saved spanning over three years.
I haven't removed everything from Google's server yet, I'm still a little bit leery about making the switch totally, but at least I can now use Time Machine to back up my email. Now I'll have three copies of it for redundancy, and I'll own two of them. I'm going to have to think about encrypting my external backup disk too.
