Henry Darger
Apr. 17th, 2008 01:52 pmWas I telling someone on here about Henry Darger at some point? I can't remember who I was talking to about him... he was this crazy recluse guy who worked as a janitor by day and then went home at night to write and illustrate a massive series of stories (19,000 pages) about magical children trying to preserve a Christian nation beset by civil strife.

Well, he's got a gallery show going on:
Henry Darger: The Ultimate Outsider
Fri 3/28 - Sat 6/7
6:00PM at Andrew Edlin Gallery
529 West 20th Street 10th Floor, New York, NY
I'm dying to see this for myself. The guy spent all his time collecting photos of children to doctor and using tracing paper to copy images like the Coppertone girl for his surreal/fantastic art.
