Last night I went to the Creative Commons "NYC Salon" party in Chelsea, and one of the demos was this suite of web apps that mimic all the generally used functionality of the Adobe Creative Suite. The site's at aviary.com and it's extremely impressive software, even though it's early days - but the most impressive aspect of it is the fact that it maintains attributions and "history" of the derivations of a design using node-based design (which could very well be the coolest process oriented thing I've ever seen in a graphic design tool). It's probably the best implementation of the metaphor of the creative commons yet, and it's completely open and even has a free (no cost) version of the entire toolset. They're also developing a music editing tool, and will eventually be making a video editing tool.

This is very much worth checking out. http://www.aviary.com/
