New Books Next To My Bed

Purple Cow, Seth Godin

Unleashing The Ideavirus, Seth Godin/Malcolm Gladwell

The Tipping Point, Malcolm Gladwell

I've become fascinated with the idea of spreading ideas lately. Culture and memes are foremost on my mind these days. I should pull out my old philosophy sufficiency and see what I was thinking about 8-9 years ago.

I end up staring at the cover of The Tipping Point a lot because there's a raised image of a match on the cover, and it looks like a real match and I keep wanting to brush it off the cover...

*ugh*

I used to work for Seth Godin, as an employee of Yoyodyne Entertainment/Seth Godin Productions.

He's a brilliant man. He was a really difficult man to work for, and I think I was too immature to overlook his faults as a manager to take advantage of the opportunity to learn from such an innovative mind.

He's particularly innovative in the field of marketing, but he's best at marketing himself. I often conflicted with him on business ethics, especially in terms of given credit where it was due. He's also a maddening devotee of Zig Ziglar.

But if his newer books fall in line with the books published by Seth Godin Productions, they are probably good reads with some great ideas.

[livejournal.com profile] jingsaw was a big fan of The Tipping Point. I didn't read it, myself, as he couldn't stop talking about it so I didn't need to. Heh.

But if you want to geek out about it with someone he's your man.
