Astrology

Okay, so - I know nothing about astrology. I don't really believe in it per se. But I'm curious as to what sign is supposed to match up with me (Leo/Virgo cusp) if only because I know there are people out there who might believe that I may or may not match with them based on it...

Anybody got any insight for me?

Don't date people who believe in astrology.

See, that removes a large chunk of the population I want to date. There are a number of eligible women out there who wouldn't necessarily base their entire dating decision on astrology, but it may play a factor like: "Oh well, he's a leo/virgo cusp anyways, so it'd probably never work out."

I just want to at least be informed about people's possible thought process.

My reply was tongue-in-cheek, but otherwise-rational people who believe in astrology worry me.

Leo/Virgo cusp? Oooh...

that's bad.

real bad.

I didn't know that, I thought you were just a straight up Leo, but Leo/Virgo?

bad.

Means you'll be a big hairy Italian guy.

Just shoot yourself now,
Tom

PS Seriously though, you might be amused by this. It's a quick and dirty chart maker.

I go by Meyers Briggs Types... it generally works out better.

Leo is a fire sign, so you want an air sign. Virgo I believe is an earth sign, which would point to water... so I'm not sure... maybe someone who is an air sign on the cusp of a water? Gemini/Cancer for example.

I'm ENTP. How do you figure compatability with MBTI?

So someone who's Gemini/Cancer cusp is born on June 21si... hm. You know anybody born in June? :)

I don't usually keep track of that sort of thing (who is what sign)

LockJournal will tell you who on your friends' list has what birthday. Kadath is 6/27 according to my list.

Generally with the MBTI stuff, you will be more compatible with people who have a personality type close to yours. Other ENTPs, an INTP, an ESTP, an ENFP, or an ENTJ would be your best options... simply because you will tend to communicate easier with them. I've seen charts before that match up each of the personality types with all the other ones and explain the most likely relationship between these people. I tried to find a good one, but all I found was this: http://socionicsdating.com/intertype_relationships.shtml

This link: http://www.halverson-law.com/negotiate.htm
will tell you more about how your type will differ in communications with another type.

The MBTI stuff is all really well defined... so you're bound to find some good info out there. And there are online free versions of the test (although they're generally shorter and less accurate).

Way back in the day a few of my good friends and I did an IQP together, and we found that we were all basically ENTP, with some minor differences... :)

[identity profile] purly.livejournal.com 2003-11-19 01:22 pm (UTC)(link)
Did you take the test though? Or was that just a guess?

I scored ENTP the first time I took the "official" test. INTP the second time... and on every unofficial test I've gotten INTP except 3 times... once I got INFP, once ISTP, and once ISFP(wtf???). I've taken the test like a kazillion times now... and I'm pretty sure I'm an INTP based on the explanation of what an INTP is also. There are a lot of variations out there... like the "Jungian" version lol.

It's weird that most of my friends are only one off from INTP. That's really rare since only like 1% of the population is INTP.

We all took an official test that had to get sent out to be scored and stuff. It's been a long time since I've taken the test though... who knows what it is now? :)

[identity profile] purly.livejournal.com 2003-11-19 01:40 pm (UTC)(link)
It's not supposed to change. Mine did -- but that's exteremly rare. As a matter of fact, if you take the official test more than once and there is a significant change (as is the case with me), then the only way you can be placed is by meeting with a pro. Fuck that though!

I got an E 44, N 33, T 11, J 1 from an online test I just took... I wonder what my old numbers were?

I know I'm all about the E at least. lol

[identity profile] purly.livejournal.com 2003-11-19 03:05 pm (UTC)(link)
If you're that close on the J, it's likely that you are in fact a P. If you get even, it chooses the most common one. But it's also possible that you were always borderline to begin with.

i dabble a bit in the astrological arts.....

when you're a cusper (I know, I'm one myself; Sagi/Cap) you tend to have traits of both signs, depending on what side of the cusp you're on you tend to have more traits of one than the other. That seems to lend itself to somewhat of a dichotomous personality (again, I know from personal experience :-P). It's always good to look for other cuspers, and not necessarily "complementary" cuspers. For instance, I tend to clash with air signs even though i'm a fire/earth. My fiance is all fire and together we're like an inferno :)

For your particular cusp, I'd say fire signs would probably work best, followed by water. Your earthy nature won't put up with air's flightiness, and if she's also earth then you might bash heads a bit too much. Fire fuels fire, with your earth to ground it, and water won't put out your flame because you've got the earth in there to keep things solid. Hope this helps ya.....

PS--Fire signs are Aries, Leo, and Sagittarius, Water signs are Cancer, Scorpio, and Pisces, Air signs are Gemini, Libra, and Aquarius, and Earth signs are Taurus, Virgo, and Capricorn.
