Shaving the walls

Today I spent about five hours scraping wallpaper glue off my walls. The process was very physical, very mind-numbingly zen. Spray walls with DIF - wait - wet walls with sponge - wait - scrape scrape scrape - wash walls again. I'd take the scraper, run it along the plaster, then dip it in the bucket and shake it off to get the scum off it... just like shaving the walls.

This DIF stuff I'm using is great. It's this enzyme that just dissolves the glue; it all comes right off and washes away.

My good friend Seth came by in the early part of the afternoon and he actually helped me out quite a bit. We got three of four walls completely clean. All that really remains is the wall with the windows in it, so it's not really a whole wall even. I can start priming the room at least. I may even get it all painted before leaving for Virginia this weekend...

Still no water yet. Apparently a plumber has to come check all the pipes, and then the gas company has to come and check everything... man, I hope I can move in before Christmas. Damn it all anyway.

You are so adorable! I will try to find one like me, but I am a rare find. hehe. Actually, I need to do nothing to this apt because hopefully I will be leaving in a few months but help moving in to my next place could really tickle my pickle.

I appreciate the offer, I really do - I didn't even think to call anyone yesterday though, I just figured I'd do it myself... and then Seth called and wanted to hang out, so he just showed up. And he very graciously helped me accomplish more than I would have on my own, for which I am very grateful.

I'm going to be remodeling during standard 9-5 work hours this week, priming and painting and generally cleaning up the place. I wouldn't think you'd be available for those times, but if you are let me know. I'll never refuse help. :)

My mom and dad will be coming up either Wednesday or Thursday to help clean too, so if anyone wants to hang with my 'rents, I'll let you know when the jet setters will be arriving...

Hi Sweetie....
Ahem. That "mind numbing" or "Zen-like" feeling is called getting high from the "enzyme that dissolves the glue". Next time play loud music and chug a cold one to complete the experience. Or, just open the window a crack. :)
