Laws are supposed to protect society, not tell people what's innately right and wrong. Law does not equal morality at all, it only exists to preserve social order. Certain people just insist on reading morality into things, because it's easier for them to come to simple conclusions without thinking through the consequences. "It's just not right to molest children" is not the same thing as "Children should be protected from sexual advances because they aren't sexually mature and they are the future of the society and should be kept from harm."
They may both be true and correct things to say, but one is a moral judgement and the other is a practical social concern that can be formed into a law.
