Just because people are prostitutes doesn't mean they are desperate for money or poor. There are lot of people who do it because it's "easy" money.
On the same argument since they have disposable income they are smart people who know that taking money for blow jobs is prostitution and they are legally responcible for the act. If it was really a contest then their would have been a prize for the winner, not all of the contestants being paid up-front.
