IKEAAAAA!!!!!!

Damn you IKEA! I purchased your MALM dresser, which comes in two boxes... yet NEITHER of the boxes contains the HARDWARE I require to assemble the dresser!!! Now I have to wait for days for you bastards to send me the kit via UPS.

I WISH YOU PAIN IKEA. I wish you pain...

Honestly, IKEA has some of the best customer service I know of -- they are sending you the parts, right? I've called them almost a year after the purchase of an item that I never put together and gotten them to send me a piece that was missing.

Having to wait a week to get parts mailed to me is a ridiculous and terrible inconvenience, after paying $90 to get the stuff delivered to me by van here in the city!

I have no car, and have to take the bus on a 2 hour round trip to get the parts I need. I really, really don't want to have to do that for something that is their fault - their van delivery people should bring me what was supposed to be in the box!

Their van delivery people have no control over the contents of the box - the packaging department does - unless the packaging was broken or messed with in some ways (then you have right of refusal). Was their something wrong with the box? Because iif there wasn't, the delivery people delivered it in good faith.

The delivery service is a seperate service, and is really a seperate issue from the packaging. It sounds like you think a $90 delivery price is too high and that on top of not having the parts is what makes you upset. (I don't know if IKEA subcontracts their deliveries - but that's also a factor in this).

They are sending you the items you need - The factor on the time here is probably how long it takes the post office to get it to you in NYC - which is a function of the city's size. It doesn't make economic sense for them to drive into the city to deliver you some parts that might be a lb. or so in weight.

Now to say that this isn't annoying? Yes, of course it is - but what do you realistically expect the company to do and still stay in business? Are they believing you when you say it wasn't packed? Yes, and they're sending you parts which is a hell of a lot better than some furniture stores I've dealt with.

Oh and I'm sure you've already checked, but double check the packaging - as honestly, I've accidently thrown out their screws on one occasion because of how tightly they were tucked into the packaging.

I hope it works out.

The packaging was unopened/undamaged. The delivery was done well. I completely removed all pieces from packaging and then cut the box into tiny pieces for recycling - no bag of bits anywhere to be found (it would be a sizable bag).

I only blame IKEA packing itself - regardless of everyone's "good intentions" I did not receive the product I paid for, period. It's a sign of poor quality control on the part of IKEA! Why should I have to pay any more in time or money for their screw-up? Because it would cost me bus fare and two hours of my life to get what I want - when they could just give the bag to their delivery crew and have them come back again within one of their delivery windows. It's ridiculous to make me wait longer or expect me to go out of my way to rectify their mistake. Their delivery people go out anyway, every day, so it's not like they're "losing money" to make another side trip to fix their error. In fact, they're probably paying more in total to ship me the stuff instead of just using their delivery guys already en route.
