Sansei is incredible. I had sushi the likes of which I have never known. The most tender and luscious tuna, salmon, and whitefish. Rolls with pink and yellow seaweed, crab meat and cilantro, and roasted vegetables harvested from Maui upcountry. A ball of rice wrapped with tuna with a quail egg on top...

And it's 50% OFF if you go at the right times. My god.

Last night we went to Stella Blues Cafe - and I had grass fed beef! Cattle raised on Maui, juicy and delicious NY strip, mmmmmmm... and they made this smoky fish dip with marlin and roasted red peppers that was to DIE for.

We went to the one in Kihie on Maui, but there is one at "Restaurant Row" in Honolulu. Their early bird special is from 5 PM until 5:30 PM (That's when you have to sit down, you don't have to eat all the sushi before 5:30).

The Honolulu Sansei also have 50% off Pupu and Sushi from 10 PM until closing Thursday to Saturday.

However, it is very, very very busy at that time.

BTW, Sea Urchin sushi tastes...wrong.

reading this after I had some particularly bad, particularly expensive sushi at the new zimpango. gah, you stink.

(and I swear they used canned tuna in the dragon's eye roll. it was gross)

If you go to the right places and look for the right things, you can get INCREDIBLE food on Maui. They grow so many fruits and veggies and raise all kinds of livestock locally, and a lot of it is organic due to all the hippie folk living out there. Delicious!
