I've been making bread in my bread machine instead of buying it... I love the smell of fresh bread. Today I am also using my crock pot for the first time, and I'm making a soup with a bunch of greens in it.

Many Greens Soup

garlic
olive oil
1 1/2 cartons of chicken stock
1 can corn
1 can black beans
salt and pepper
1 T curry powder
A large bunch of greens - turnip greens, arugala, spinach, kale

Heat the oil and garlic together, then add to a crock pot. Pour in the chicken stock. Empty out the corn and black beans (rinse the beans off). Season the mixture with salt, pepper, and curry powder. Steam the greens until tender, and then add them to the crock pot. Simmer on low for 5+ hours.

I love it. I love cooking. I love keeping house.

Anybody out there looking for a housewife...?

No. I don't know when again I will be home.

Sometime you can make me food and I will come visit you, but not now.

Do you think it would work if I just cooked it on the stove? I'm all about beans and greens.

Totally. Just make it in a big soup pot or a dutch oven.

i *highly* recommend frying the curry powder with the garlic and oil. people seem to go nuts over my soups when i do that. for some reason, they insist that i used chicken broth when i do that, even if i didnt use any broth at all.

and if you get beet greens, i can give you a most excellent borsht recipe that is sooooo great and hardy on a hot summer day.

That's a good point... I've actually used patak's curry paste in the past in that way too, that's kind of the same flavor effect. The curry flavor was definitely a lot milder in the soup than I was hoping.
