My parents arrived early early morning on Saturday (6:00a.m.) and we hit Persy's on Main Street for breakfast... it took waaaay too long to get seated and fed, we caught them right at the peak of a rush just before 10:00a.m. and didn't leave until practically Noon. We then hit the cook's supply store (where I bought a couple supplies) and the hardware store, and then lounged around the apartment for a while; mostly because it was really nasty weather outside. The air was really too humid for comfort, and for some reason there was NO WIND whatsoever. All day long! It was bizarre, it was the first day of no wind since I moved here last Fall - not a tree rustling, and a lake-like, glassy surface on the bay. We decided to trek to the mall and bask in the air conditioning for a while. My dad and I chilled out in the B&N while my mom shopped.

I made a dinner reservation for us at Abbicci in Yarmouth, and we got an early table; my treat, it was kind of an early 35th anniversary present for my parents. It was an amazing meal, everything was perfect, we were all very satisfied. We had: broccoli rabe, beef carpaccio, a cheese plate for two, saffron and black pepper pasta with lobster, veal rib chop with port sauce (mine), and veal scallopine with prosciutto. The cheese plate was really the highlight for me - three cheeses with a variety of crackers and fruit; two Italian, and one French. The Italian ones were a soft pungent cheese with black truffles that was rolled in cinnamon, and a hard sharp cheddar-like combination goat and cow's milk cheese. The French one was called a Morbier, and had this line of edible grey ash running through the center of it, and it was extremely tangy. Dessert was a chocolate mousse napoleon with pizzeles, profiteroles with orange anisette gelato (mine, with a glass of limoncello), and bread pudding with Maine blueberries.

The last stop of the evening was a private beach on Lewis Bay to watch the Hyannis fireworks. The company CFO invited us to come check out the show with him; it was a very nice display, but we got totally attacked by mosquitoes, despite using lots and lots of DEET. All the locals at the beach were remarking about how calm it was all day, and even that night - that it was the first time in months and months that it was calm like that.

This morning I made breakfast - bacon and fried eggs, fresh strawberries dipped in sugar, garlic ciabatta, and ripe roasted figs topped with goat cheese and pecorino romano. :D

The big event of today is the company clambake in Orleans at the home of my bosses... that'll be an all day affair with live music and all kinds of crazy fun.

In other news, I signed up on Xbox live - if you've got a live account, let me know!
