When we last left our intrepid narrator, he was about to head off to a clambake in Orleans. We arrived about an hour late to the party, but we were just in time for the main food event. The very large and very lovely home of my bosses overlooks Little Pleasant Bay and Nauset Beach, and is situated on one of the highest points above sea level on Cape Cod. They have a huge amount of property there, including their own beach - very sweet.

A good number of my co-workers and their families were in attendance, as well as friends and family of my bosses; there must have been at least sixty or so people. The catering was really very good, there was a table full of Italian appetizers including meats and cheeses, salads, a variety of roasted vegetables, and a fig and cheese foccacia. There were also drinks aplenty, margaritas (Trish's signature drink), beers, and assorted soft drinks. The main meal consisted of lobsters, steamers, corn, potatoes... lots of stuff I couldn't have basically because it all got prepared together in the same steamer, but I got some food grilled separately and it all worked out okay. Dessert was just cookies and brownies, but that was okay - no need for anything super fancy at a clambake!

I got to chat with a lot of cool people, and meet a few new business type folks. The really weird thing though was having my work world collide with my family world. Tom and Trish got to meet my mom and dad, and they all got to talking about me; a very bizarre situation to be hearing praise from your bosses while your parents get to tell stories about your childhood and preen and be proud for having produced you. :)

Towards the end of the day, I went down to the beach with some folks and took in the view and all - very nice, but you DO NOT want to be down there after 3:00p.m. You have to walk through this path in a wooded area, and if you try walking it after that time, the freaking dinosaur-sized mosquitoes will completely exsanguinate your ass. I was wearing a dark shirt and was the biggest, juiciest target for the horrid creatures, and practically had to run back up the hill with a swarm covering my back and circling around me. I had to run to my dad's car and grab the deep woods off and spray half the bottle all over me to get them off. I had some HUGE nasty welts where they bit me, but they went down after a couple hours. After that escapade, the party was pretty much breaking up, so we said our goodbyes and made our way back to Hyannis where we supped at the Panera down the street and fell asleep right when we got home.

Today totally rocked my world. I got to spend the whole day in Provincetown with Xmas, Jess, and Scott and we all had a blast. We walked all over Commercial Street and ate a ton of great food: vegan yumminess (burritos, fried tofu, and the like) at Tofu A Go-Go, ice cream at Ben & Jerry's, malasadas at the Portuguese bakery (Jess is a goddess), chocolate caramel cashew clusters from The Purple Feather, and South African cuisine at the Karoo Kafe. We shopped all over, and people watched a whole bunch. We positioned ourselves on the wharf to watch the fireworks display at 9:00p.m. and let me tell you, the P-town fireworks made the Hyannis ones look SICK. Sick I say!! These fireworks were, literally, the bomb. Much louder, much better designed, and much more exciting. It was a really exhausting day capping off a very busy weekend, but I had tons and tons of fun the whole time.

I also got to give Jess her birthday presents today (a crystal hedgehog and a multi-tool), and she liked them lots. Woo!
