I haven't really weighed myself in a while, as I've just been too concerned with getting other aspects of my life in order lately. But just a short time ago, I stepped on the scale, and saw that I'm now at 272 pounds. This is a loss of about seven pounds in the last three weeks.

This is pretty amazing. I knew I had lost weight since I started the moving process; all the lifting and carrying and packing and now walking all over New York is paying off, and I could tell because I was down a belt notch. I just didn't know what the exact number was. And it's so close to the 260's I am almost stunned.

This is a weight I haven't seen since I started college, and it's the lowest weight I've reached since I started changing my eating habits for the better almost five years ago. I don't feel like I'm really straining to lose weight, so I think as long as I keep things as they are, I'll be svelte in no time.

New York continues to be amazing and wonderful. On Friday I went into the city and saw Pan's Labyrinth at the Landmark Sunshine theater; I later realized the fairy tale movie was completely an allegory of women's sexuality and identity (which I may write more about later). It's a terrific film, and I highly recommend it. The guy working the concession stand and I got into a discussion of all the crappy remakes that have been coming out the last few years... he was pretty adamantly against remakes of any sort, though I had to say that I thought the Peter Jackson King Kong was a worthy movie on its own merit.

Yesterday Jen S. and Tim and their friend Andy came to visit me - we hung out at my place, had dinner at the Wild Ginger vegan pan-asian restaurant on Bedford Avenue (great food), and then played board games at the apartment until later in the evening (they brought Sequence, which is pretty much Connect Five with playing cards, and we broke in my copy of 13 Dead End Drive). We then went on a little pub crawl around the neighborhood, hitting Pete's Candy Store, Alligator Lounge, Daddy's, and Barcade. Free pizza at Alligator Lounge was a huge hit, but Barcade late in the evening wasn't as much fun (maybe because we were a bit too tired by then).
