Located near East 4th Street and Avenue B, the E.U. takes good food seriously, yet still has a casual flair for its atmosphere. The cavern-like dining area is decorated sparsely, but creatively, with neo-industrial lighting and artifacts; a miniscule bar at the back of the establishment speaks to the recent acquisition of their liquor license.

Food Flags

So, I was reading this book review article that Tom posted a link to - regarding "mindless eating". One of the talking points of the author was that nutritional information is basically useless because people really DON'T make rational decisions based on numbers, and that they react more to color schemes, music, and other hidden persuader cues. If a person hears that something is "low-fat" or if the nutritional information has smaller numbers, all that really does is cause the person to eat more of it because it's "okay" to eat.

Therefore, I propose the following: If I were the gubbermint, I would mandate that all processed foods must have colored flags on their labelling in addition to the nutritional numbers and ingredients.
