Captain America
Jun. 19th, 2007 03:12 pmSo, I discovered about 25 issues late how awesome the new Captain America series is. The writing is stellar, and it actually plays out a bit like Fox's "24" but with superheroes and real super-spies. Happily, I was able to get all three trades now released, and then buy the individual issues up to the most recent one.
Here's the funny thing though, and this may be minor spoilers - the first two years of this series has been the Red Skull getting his band back together, and culminates in the DEATH of Captain America and the return of his sidekick Bucky (the Barry Allen of the Marvel Universe) last seen about 50 or so years ago. At least half the story is devoted to the Red Skull, and possibly more. Not much else has really happened except that the whole damn thing has been setup for 25 issues. Yet I still love it because I love seeing the characters being revitalized.
Well except for Cap, of course. He's been... devitalized. As brutally shown in the latest issue. Brrr.
