Beware of Shoplet.com
Apr. 23rd, 2008 03:05 pmI purchased (correction: attempted to purchase) a webcam on Amazon.com. Except I didn't really buy it from Amazon, I got it from one of their "partners", an outfit called Shoplet.com.
The transaction started out very smoothly - I got the usual emails from Amazon telling me they got my order, and then that my order had shipped. "Awesome," I think, "it'll get there when I want it to." Except it doesn't. Five days later I receive another email from Amazon telling me that there was an error (huh?) and that the product didn't ship (WHAT??) and that my money's being refunded (well hooray for small fricking favors).
Well, now I'm screwed; I can't get the present there when it needs to be there, and I can't get it there in time myself because my friend's in another state. WTF CHUCK. So I call my friend, apologize, ask her to buy something herself and I'll repay her so that she has it there before she leaves.
I am next prompted by Amazon to leave feedback. I have received zero communication from Shoplet in all this time, so I leave back a complaint stating exactly what happened, and that I did not contact Shoplet and they did not contact me, but that I was very dissatisfied. Well, lo and behold, today I get an email from Shoplet saying (I paraphrase) "We refunded your money, please to be removing negative feedback?" to which I reply "No, sorry, the feedback's accurate, fix your systems, don't ask me to not complain."
Next I get this shady bribe offer: "Well, what if we give you a free webcam?" To which I further need to explain that this will not satisfy me because it's not money or product that I've lost, it's TIME. I needed it to be there when I was told it would be there. Can I get a refund on my time? No, didn't think so.
So there you go. Morals of the story:
- Avoid Shoplet when purchasing on Amazon.com
- Negative feedback is pricy stuff... it's worth at least $40.
