Obama just gave a speech about Middle Eastern foreign policy, saying Jerusalem needs to remain Israel's undivided capital city.
I don't think Israel would ever go for it - but I honestly think the best course of action would be to declare Jerusalem a sovereign nation. Much the same way that the Vatican is its own sovereignity, Jerusalem itself should become an independent holy city. The only way to preserve it for everyone is to make it "belong" to no one. Of course, now the question is "who runs the city?" but frankly I think that's up to the people who live in Jerusalem to decide for themselves.
(Not that I personally care or am affected by this in any way, and I'm basically a non-interventionist and don't believe the United States should even be involved in any way; but it seems to me that when people argue over a baby, the best thing to do is take it away from both of them when cutting it in half isn't an option)
