Second rehearsal for the musical tonight - our director was in low spirits, she hardly got any sleep at all this past weekend. Things are still really fast and loose... we still don't really know anything about music, or blocking, or choreography. And the production really needs a stage manager.

Three rehearsals next week, so things will really be starting in earnest next Monday. I have seven days left, and then I have to be off book. I noticed that Ken, our male lead, has already got a good handle on his lines in the first act; and that makes me want to try just an eensy bit harder than I have been. Also, there are a lot of good singing talents in the cast... and it's been a long time since I've really sung myself. I'm a little worried that my less than stellar vocals might drag things down a bit. :/

I've also got a week left to finish up my writing project for Chad, and I'm only about halfway done there. Probably about 12-15 more hours of work; I have to make sure I put the time in for that. The cash from that will be a welcome bonus, even though it's really paying dirt wages. (I mean geez, four cents a word, hoo boy...)

The quest for changing my style also continues. Tonight's exciting suggestions included get piercings of various sorts in various places, getting a tatoo, and the usual change hair/change beard ideas. One change I'm actively considering right now though is getting contacts. That's a relatively easy one to do, and I think that'd be a good place to start (I do want to get that laser eye surgery one of these days).

And man, it is WAY too hot. I hate this weather. I really, really, really want it to not be 90 degrees and humid. Fall can't come fast enough.

if you are considering laser surgery...

Laser surgery. Yes indeedy. Probably not next year but maybe in 2004.

Contacts are great, except in a dozen or so instances when they just aren't. Seeing clearly out of my own eyes would be so so so very satisfying ... but contacts are certainly an improvement over glasses.

I think you should start wearing gold rings on all your fingers and always wear black and make sure you wear half-buttoned silk shirts with way too much chest hair exposed. And maybe a gold crucifix necklace. And a rolodex. And really expensive leather shoes. And sneer at people like you're considering having them deleted.

Okay maybe not.

Rolodex?!?

Where does that fit into the Guinea-Underworld-Boss-Meets-Greasy-Lounge-Club-Act image?

I imagine it might look rather unique, though, a spindle of index cards strapped to the top of the head...

If you're lookin' for new looks, that certainly does qualify.

ACK!

I knew what I meant to say ("Rolex")
but it wasn't what I said ("Rolodex")

I will call that a Helene-ism.

Heh.

You know, I do have a really suave gold and diamond pinky ring from my great-grandfather.

I'm just afraid to wear it regularly. Don't want anyone yanking it off or performing other finger removal operations trying to get at it...

I'll wear it to Josh and Ford's wedding though. That'll be spiff. :>

After reading Sven's description I now think I may postpone slightly longer... I didn't quite realize the extent of the whole "cut off the front of your eye" thing. I think I'd need a whole lot of valium, and then I'd need to tie my arms to my sides to prevent the "eye scratching for permanent damage" thing. *shudder*

So you think I should capitalize on my Italian-ness. Hm.

>And a rolodex.

Okay, now I'm confused...

I do need to get new shoes... I wear footwear out quickly though. :/

If you go for contacts, I really think you should go for the bright, unnatural green contacts. The ones surfers use, they also keep your eyes from getting sunburned.

here's a page on the subject

and this one's just fun!

Oh I would so love to have some glow-in-the-dark contacts. That'd probably be enough to get me to switch back from glasses, but that site doesn't give options for prescription versions. Course it seems like they'd probably mess with your vision (and I can't find any real indication of whether they're actually glow-in-the-dark or just UV triggered).

Anyone know anything more about these?
