1. Do you feel 'at home' yet after your move?

It's odd, because I felt at home the moment I had all my furniture set up; probably about two weeks after I got here. I still have some boxes of books I want to unpack very very soon (I have this irrational thought that if I'm totally unpacked and completely set up, I'll be able to stay here longer) but I need to make an IKEA trip and buy a couple of BILLY bookshelves and I also want to get a cheapo microwave cart... and then the place will be completely done. But I definitely already feel home.

I think I have a bit of a nomadic streak in me - I can really feel at home anywhere if I try. It really doesn't take much.

2. What's your favorite electronic game of the moment?

I've been playing Elebits on my Wii, but really I'm just doing that until something better comes along for the Wii. I'm a little disappointed that there isn't any truly killer Wii game yet. I also wish they'd hurry up and come out with that rechargeable Wii remote stand thing.

I guess the thing I play the most of is Big Brain Academy on the DS. But my favorite on DS is still Advance Wars: Dual Strike. I wish like hell that they'd made that game multiplayer on Nintendo WiFi. In fact, I really wish they'd made the Wii a lot more Nintendo WiFi enabled - I hate that I can't just play Wii Sports with another friend who just happens to be in another state. I also wish that I could plug DS games through the Wii so I could play them on my TV... okay enough griping now.

3. What's your favorite board game of the moment?

Puerto Rico is my current favorite "I will play this at the drop of a hat" game. But I am also enamored of Betrayal at House on the Hill, though I haven't really played it enough yet to truly judge it fairly. I also have a copy of Arkham Horror and both released expansions that I haven't even played once yet, but I really really really want to. Soon. I really like cooperative games, so I very much want to try it out.

4. What sort of art do you enjoy viewing?

Firstly, I'll preface that I have a very broad definition of art. So I'll just say that, in general, no matter what the medium, I prefer art that is surreal. I don't know why I've always preferred the fantastic over the realistic, but there's something that clicks in my brain whenever I see something that isn't "right". Or something that is exactly right, but in a completely unexpected way. Maybe I like art that surprises me? I appreciate things that are shocking as well. I like art that stimulates me and makes me think.

5. Where is the weirdest place you've been to?

This is a really interesting question. I'll have to think a little bit about what weird means... the place that gave me the weirdest feelings? The place that looked most weird?

My first impulse is to say that the basement of my last apartment in Worcester was the weirdest; but I may just be confusing that with "creepiest" because it really was freaking scary. There was a workbench towards the back of the basement with a cabinet above it - inside the cabinet were paint cans and bottles and other vessels, and every liquid in there had somehow leaked and oozed out and created all these gooey, black, drippy looking stalactites. There were green glass bottles filled with clear fluid and some kind of moldy looking carrot-like growths suspended in them, that stretched from top to bottom. Half the basement was a dirt floor, and I had to walk across boards over water and mud to change ancient fuses (until the landlord had an electrician add circuit breakers). That was fun. I always imagined bodies and stuff in the ground under the house.

There's this natural spring in Ohio called "The Blue Hole". It's basically this gigantic pond sized hole in the ground with extremely blue water welling up out of it and spilling out, and colorfully bizarre floral-looking mineral deposits, like coral reefs, that climb up the sides of the hole. That place is kind of odd.

This is a good thing to think and write about. I may post more later as I ruminate. Thanks!!
