I think I can safely delete my Yahoo account now. I haven't received any emails on it in quite some time, so it's going bye bye.

I'm eventually migrating away from my Gmail account over time as well. I'll soon be down to just my World ISP account (which I've had now for an astonishing... 15 years?) and I'll be able to receive emails there, and at gweep.net. Update your contacts accordingly!

out of curiosity, why are you ditching your gmail?

It mainly serves no purpose for me any longer - all the functionality I get in Gmail I can get in the Mac Mail app with Spotlight searching. The only "bonus" to Gmail is that it's web-based so I can access it anywhere... but I can also do that if I take my laptop with me. Also, I feel like I can take back ownership of my data if I stop feeding Google the text of all my emails so they can target ads at me.

Maybe I want to pop the G-bubble sooner. :0

I'm totally a Mac convertee/evangelist now. I'm really done with Windows systems for good, and I'll recommend Mac OS X to everyone from now on.

Far be it from me to knock apple-fan-boy-ism! (but) Apple's mail program isn't well known for its open data formats. Still .. it (currently) seems to be just mime with some extra xml.... nothing perl couldn't solve .. but annoying all the same that they reinvented that particular wheel.

I find myself using gmail more and more ... even though it causes me a little self-hate.

Every try http://mailplaneapp.com/ ?
