Do not read if you don't wanna.

So they made the big reveal last episode - the overarching story is about inter-dimensional invasion. I think it's pretty clear that Massive Dynamic is a player in the inter-dimensional war, though I don't think it's totally clear what side they're on. I will speculate this much though:

William Bell, CEO of Massive Dynamic, is actually Walter Bishop from another dimension. I suspect it's a dimension where the lab accident that killed the assistant in our dimension didn't kill her, and Bishop didn't get institutionalized as a result (thus allowing their dimension to advance farther in technology).

IN FACT, I think the lab assistant from the other dimension ONLY LOST HER ARM in that explosion. And she's currently the Executive Director of Massive Dynamic. Whether or not MD is a beachhead for the invading forces, or whether they're allies from yet another dimension here to help ours prepare for war, remains to be seen.

I look forward to this show getting more and more batshit crazy.

I'd started watching it and got rapidly bored. I was disappointed with the show, but I'd still tune in occasionally if I was home and there wasn't a compelling Good Eats episode waiting on my DVR.

Then I watched this week's episode and decided I should start recording the show and maybe go back and watch the whole season if I can find it. The thing that got me the most was Walter's reaction to the manuscript. Right there I was like "Yes, that's the show I wanted this to be."

Yes, I agree as well. I think it was just "building steam" as happens with many show's first seasons... they mustn't turn into "freak of the week", they need to keep building on that core story. It shouldn't just be Inter-dimensional X-files.

I've been enjoying the hell out of it. Perhaps my favorite show on tv these days. Hopefully they won't completely jump the shark and crush my hopes and dreams.

Have you seen Damages? That show also rocks.

Do you like my rampant speculation?

I'm sure it will be more interesting when I go back and actually give a crap about Massive Dynamic. I hadn't watched enough episodes to be willing to pay attention whenever they came up in an episode.

Much like my reaction to Wolfram & Hart the first few times I saw Angel the series... way more interesting if you're paying attention to the story, but if you're just watching random episodes, it's like "Evil lawfirm? Cute joke. Get back to the sexy vampires and monster fighting, already."

I recently gave up watching that show. The writers complete and utter lack of understanding of basic science or medicine just annoys me too much. I do like the characters and the story is interesting but the devil is in the details and it's just too much for me to be able to suspend my disbelief.

I have to agree that they do play very fast and loose with science. I see it too, I just don't mind as much.

You may want to check out a show called ReGenesis, I watched all of it on Hulu at one point - very scientifically precise, and still dramatic and interesting. Microbiology made extra cool!

Yeah either a show has to at least glance at real science, like CSI or House or it has to go the totally made up route, like Star Trek or Stargate because that it's easy to ignore/dismiss the flaws. But when a show tries to pass off what they are doing as science but is just total BS I can't pardon them.

I already have 35 shows that I have recorded on my TiVo and 3 more in my NetFlix queue. I don't need to add more. :) But thanks for the suggestion.

I'm not even sure if ReGenesis is playing in the U.S. I think it's in Canada only.
